The A Cold Winter Night - 970 Words

Picture this: It’s a cold winter night and you are diving on a desolate, icy road and you are tired and in a bad mood. You spot a flash of red up ahead. A family of cats is hiding in a torn box on the edge of the road. You have two options, drive by and believe that they will be alright, thinking someone else will help them. Or two, take a few seconds out of your busy schedule, clean out the back of your car and carefully put the cats in, you know that you don’t like cats but are willing to help. Which would you choose if given the option? Think of this: It’s a hot summer s day and you are running late for a meeting and your kids are yelling in the back and you spot a dog, just wondering around in the middle of the road, no collar and looks like he’s been without food for a few days. Would you stop to help or just honk your horn until he moves? I’m betting you say you would help but would you really? In this day and age we don’t think much of stray and wild animals roaming our streets and roads. Just a nuisance not really a threat right? Stray animals are a huge problem in our communities today, whether it be from hit animals, damage to houses, trashed areas, or the pile up in our humane societies. Throughout this essay topics will be discussed about stray animal negligence such as, stray cat and dog populus, statistics, problems in humane societies, and ultimately how to fix this problem which is by spaying and neutering animals as well as stopping the flow of animals, andShow MoreRelatedOne Cold Winter Night A Woman1520 Words   |  7 PagesOne cold winter night a pregnant woman Nicole Jackson, a wife, and also a mother of two tried to get in contact with her husband who was in the navy. Is a temperature inversion more likely to form on a calm or a windy night? Why? A temperature inversion is most likely to form on a calm night. Windy nights are not ideal for an inversion to occur since an inversion is considered a stable layer of atmosphere as well as due to the wind mixing the air to even out the density, remembering cold air is denser than warm air so it will flow downhill and pool in a valley. 2. Introduction And Literature Review New Generation...

1. INTRODUCTION AND LITERATURE REVIEW New generation photovoltaic cells based on organic materials possess the potential for the low cost and large area production on mechanically flexible substrates. These are lightweight and suitable for the applications such as foldable and portable solar cells. Organic photovoltaics (OPVs) have not achieved efficiencies comparable to the inorganic solar cells due to poor charge carrier mobility [1]. Recent developments of optimizing the organic absorbing materials have shown encouraging device performance towards overcoming the challenges associated with commercialization. Using various fabrication techniques, production speed up to several meters square per second can be achieved. With roll to roll fabrication process, about 105 m2 of a film can be prepared in a day. The production of organic photovoltaic devices can be achieved in large quantity and many times cheaper than the conventional inorganic photovoltaic technology. Recently, organic solar cells (OSCs) developed using different fabrication techniques, materials and state of the arts have power conversion efficiency between 6 – 10% and even greater than this [2-5]. To develop more efficient organic solar cells, various strategies are being used such as bilayer heterojunction to improve exciton dissociation, bulk hetero junction to minimize exciton recombination, etc. The performance of the organic solar cell highly depends on the interfaces between the variousShow MoreRelatedResearch Project : Drivers, Barriers And Constraints And Then Refine The Outlook Of Small Scale Power Generation1488 Words   |  6 PagesME3 LITERATURE RESEARCH PROJECT Microgeneration is not living up to expectations: A report that will first review the drivers, barriers and constraints and then refine the outlook of small scale power generation. Cybercrime Crime and Online Protection Act Free Essays

Therisa Knapp Criminal Justice Week 4 paper November 10, 2012 Cybercrime I feel that cybercrime is any illegal actions using computers. The use of computers is basically a gateway for identity theft in my opinion. By using computers criminals have it easier to pull off scams and schemes to profit off of victims’ hard earned money. We will write a custom essay sample on Cybercrime: Crime and Online Protection Act or any similar topic only for you Order Now Any business transactions being done over the internet is perhaps at risk. After reviewing the slideshow presentation in week fours learning activity I learned that cybercrime is the theft and destruction of information, resources, or funds by way of computers. Siegel, Introduction to Criminal Justice, 2011) There are three types of cybercrimes; cyber theft, cyber vandalism, and cyber welfare. Cybercrime is increasing in the United States. Cyber theft involves the use of computer networks for criminal profit. (Siegel, Introduction to Criminal Justice, 2011) In learning more about cyber theft I was surely surprised of some examples mentioned. Some examples of cyber theft are: †¢Computer fraud †¢Pornography and prostitution †¢Denial of service attacks †¢Copyright infringement †¢Identity theft Internet securities fraud (Siegel, Introduction to Criminal Justice, 2011) I had no idea that pornography and prostitution was mentioned along with copyright infringement . The second cybercrime mentioned is cyber vandalism. Cyber vandalism is a malicious attacks, disrupting-defacing, and destroying technology. This crime is motivated by malice not greed. (Siegel, Introduction to Criminal Justice, 2011) Some examples of cyber vandalism are: †¢Virus-worms †¢Trojan horses †¢Web defacement †¢Cyber stalking †¢Cyber bullying Siegel, Introduction to Criminal Justice, 2011) Learning these examples I had never given a thought of cyber stalking and cyber bullying would have been included in vandalism. I would have thought that there was maybe a cyber-harassment for a cybercrime. The final type of cybercrime is the cyber welfare. Cyber welfare is a series of politically motivated attacks designed to compromise the electronic infrastructure of an enemy nation and disrupt its economy. One serious example is hacking sensitive computer networks. (Siegel, Introduction to Criminal Justice, 2011) The extent of cybercrime in the United States is far reaching as coast to coast and border to border. Where ever there are computers, networks, internet, and people; there is a possibility of cybercrime happening to not only private individuals doing business transactions but businesses themselves. I think that one way to control cybercrime is if a person is intent on purchasing items over the internet, then that individual should purchase a Visa/MasterCard and load the money onto it. This way ones bank account would not be affect them. Perhaps the Federal Government should impose a law to use loadable credit cards to control the cybercrimes. I certainly do think enforcement can be effective because if the Federal Government imposes the Computer Fraud and Abuse Act, The Digital Millennium Copyright Act, the Identity Theft and Assumption Deterrence Act of 1998, and the Child Online Protection Act, (Siegel, Introduction to Criminal Justice, 2011) then the Federal Government has the power to enforce these acts. The Federal Government needs to let the public be aware of these â€Å"Acts† and the consequences that they bare and strongly enforce them. Cybercrime can defiantly destroy lives. Criminals benefit from pulling off scams and schemes. The three types of cybercrime can be devastating especially in the United States. The economy is in dire straits and Americans’ work hard for their money and cannot afford to have such a crime committed against them. Reference Siegel, W. (2011). Introduction to Criminal Justice. Therisa, I am glad that you made an attempt to complete this assignment. Cybercrime is on the rise in the US and it seems that the criminals have an upper hand in this activity. You did a good job in this assignment, keep up the good work. You should not being or end a paragraph with a reference. Your first sentence should be your introduction sentence, what is your paragraph going to discuss. Your last sentence should be your conclusion or transition sentence to the next paragraph, all in your own words. You should put the in-text citation after the information you use to signify that the material is from a resource. This was addressed in my written directions and checklist. There is some good APA information under Doc Sharing. If you need any help in your writing there are some resources that the school can offer you. You can also get help from your instructors if you ever have any questions. SCORE: 54/55 Related post: Snatch Theft Essay How to cite Cybercrime: Crime and Online Protection Act, Essay examples

Plagiarism on the Internet The Growth of Paper Mil Essay Example For Students

Plagiarism on the Internet The Growth of Paper Mil Essay ls Plagiarism is known as a form of literary dishonesty, otherwise known to college students as cheating. It is looked down upon highly by academics and it carries with it many serious consequences. Over the past five years, the Internet has emerged as a cheaters dream and a professors worst nightmare. Its because of a variety of web sites that give students access to entire papers for a nominal fee and sometimes even for free. As a result of the widening accessibility of the Internet, as well as the new mediums lack of regulation, a student can click a few computer buttons and in a matter of minutes, they can download a well-crafted term paper without having to pick up a single book. It seems as though the Internet has totally changed the meaning of the word research. Plagiarism can formally be defined as: repeating the authors sentences as your own; adopting a particularly apt phrase as your own; paraphrasing someone elses argument as your own; presenting someone elses link of thinking in the development of a thesis as though it were your own (Modern Language Association). Although a writer may use anothers words and thoughts, they must be acknowledged as such. The act of plagiarism in school is nothing new. In the days before the Internet, plagiarism occurred in colleges and universities across the country in the form of Cliffs Notes. Cliffs Notes, formed in 1958 by a Lincoln, Nebraska Company presents summaries of many works of literature (The Associated Press). Professors found that students were often reading these summaries instead of reading the entire works. Students then plagiarized these summaries to prepare term papers. Some universities, such as Villanova, have even decided to ban Cliffs Notes from being used within the University. However, Cliffs Notes were not as easily accessible as the Internet is. Now all the work of research and even Cliffs Notes has been replaced with simple online search engines and cut-and-paste word-processing tools. Previously, a large number of people were able to resist the temptation. Now the Internet is everywhere. Students can find themselves easily signing online at 2am to buy term papers. Its much harder to resist the temptation because it is far more convenient than going to the book store. Ready-made term papers have become enticing to students seeking a lazy alternative to real school work. Sadly, many students do not feel the same sense of guilt when they obtain papers from the Internet (Cina). We are raising a generation of students who think that anything on the Internet is free and they should not give a thought to documenting them (Renard). It seems as though the free stuff attitude of Internet users has made students think that stealing research is more acceptable. Internet plagiarism has simply evolved into an institution, a pillar of education, a big study group and an endless archive of cut-and-paste essay components (Fritz). We are now faced with three types of Internet cheaters. The first, the unintentional cheater never learned how to properly use and document resources. These cheaters will usually admit their wrongdoing because they dont understand the alternative. A second type of cheater is the sneaky cheater. These students know what plagiarism is and that it is wrong, but they also know how to get away with it, so they plagiarize portions from research sites and portions from other student papers online. The all-or-nothing cheaters are students who wait too long before starting term papers and panic at the last minutes. These students often find the whole paper on the Internet, add their names, print it, and turn it in for a grade. This is the laziest form of Internet cheating and it is the easiest to detect (Renard). Term paper mills are nothing new, but their growth has exploded on the Internet. Perhaps this is due to the Term Paper Blues ads that are being run in the back of Rolling Stone magazine by Research Assistance (Wice). .u2fd0be74d573093bc4094c9511f2b246 , .u2fd0be74d573093bc4094c9511f2b246 .postImageUrl , .u2fd0be74d573093bc4094c9511f2b246 .centered-text-area { min-height: 80px; position: relative; } .u2fd0be74d573093bc4094c9511f2b246 , .u2fd0be74d573093bc4094c9511f2b246:hover , .u2fd0be74d573093bc4094c9511f2b246:visited , .u2fd0be74d573093bc4094c9511f2b246:active { border:0!important; } .u2fd0be74d573093bc4094c9511f2b246 .clearfix:after { content: ""; display: table; clear: both; } .u2fd0be74d573093bc4094c9511f2b246 { display: block; transition: background-color 250ms; webkit-transition: background-color 250ms; width: 100%; opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #95A5A6; } .u2fd0be74d573093bc4094c9511f2b246:active , .u2fd0be74d573093bc4094c9511f2b246:hover { opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #2C3E50; } .u2fd0be74d573093bc4094c9511f2b246 .centered-text-area { width: 100%; position: relative ; } .u2fd0be74d573093bc4094c9511f2b246 .ctaText { border-bottom: 0 solid #fff; color: #2980B9; font-size: 16px; font-weight: bold; margin: 0; padding: 0; text-decoration: underline; } .u2fd0be74d573093bc4094c9511f2b246 .postTitle { color: #FFFFFF; font-size: 16px; font-weight: 600; margin: 0; padding: 0; width: 100%; } .u2fd0be74d573093bc4094c9511f2b246 .ctaButton { background-color: #7F8C8D!important; color: #2980B9; border: none; border-radius: 3px; box-shadow: none; font-size: 14px; font-weight: bold; line-height: 26px; moz-border-radius: 3px; text-align: center; text-decoration: none; text-shadow: none; width: 80px; min-height: 80px; background: url(https://artscolumbia.org/wp-content/plugins/intelly-related-posts/assets/images/simple-arrow.png)no-repeat; position: absolute; right: 0; top: 0; } .u2fd0be74d573093bc4094c9511f2b246:hover .ctaButton { background-color: #34495E!important; } .u2fd0be74d573093bc4094c9511f2b246 .centered-text { display: table; height: 80px; padding-left : 18px; top: 0; } .u2fd0be74d573093bc4094c9511f2b246 .u2fd0be74d573093bc4094c9511f2b246-content { display: table-cell; margin: 0; padding: 0; padding-right: 108px; position: relative; vertical-align: middle; width: 100%; } .u2fd0be74d573093bc4094c9511f2b246:after { content: ""; display: block; clear: both; } READ: The Physics Of Scuba Diving: Swimming with the Fish Essay This new way to take credit for someone elses work is particularly alarming because of the ease of which they can be obtained (Byrd).
